Hiring a car is not essential but highly recommended as the area around Aeolus is quite mountainous. A car is essential to make the most of your holiday and to get out and about. Below are just a few of the activities and places to visit that are in easy reach of the Aeolus Villa and recommended by our past guests.

There are several restaurants/tavernas in the local vicinity,  most are located along the coast road you took from the airport. But why not be a little bit more adventurous and head over the mountain to Volimes, the roads are quiet and the scenery quite spectacular.

Volimes is a large village that is well worth a visit, streets are lined with stalls and ladies sell local  honey, oregano, olive oil, ceramics and linens. Park the car and have a good mooch around.

On the way to Alykes you will pass through the small town of Katastari, here there are three very good supermarkets, a hairdresser and even a cyber-cafe for those who just can't live without cyberspace!

The Peligoni Sailing Club is a short distance away through the port and temporary membership of the club is available. This English run club is equipped with a wide range of top of the range windsurfers with a variety of rigs to suit the conditions, Pico and Laser dinghies, and Hobie Cats. They have fully qualified sailing instructors and safety boats. The club also provides a superb lunchtime and dinner menu, and has several themed dining nights. They also organise day trips, childrens' activities and have a swimming pool and tennis court.

Between The Port and The Peligoni Club you will find Sophia's Art Cafe. Whether or not you have any interest in art, this is just the most amazing place to visit. Both Sophia and her husband Pedro are avante-garde artists and the artwork has to be seen to be believed, there are life sized figures, frescos, sculptures, thrones, jewellery and chandeliers, all created and decorated in their own inimitable style. It is a cocktail bar and is a very popular late-night spot for those that like to enjoy the wee hours! The fresco you see below is an example of Sophias artwork.

You will probably see Askos advertised on the way to Aeolus, this is a wildlife park just a few kilometers away where you can see many animals and birds in their natural setting.

For the artists amongst you, there is an easel and folding chairs at Aeolus. Around every corner there is another view, whether it be land or seascape, there is no excuse for not finding a subject. And all bathed in that pure, brilliant light that you only find in the mediterranean.

Trips to the world famous Shipwreck located on the western coast in Navagio Bay and The Blue Caves are well within your reach from the accommodation and are fun for children and adults alike.
